Keep the library open on Saturdays. It’s the busiest day it has

The council wants to save £18,000 a year by closing the library on Saturdays. The visitor figures say that’s exactly the wrong day.

The council’s budget plan includes closing Brantwick Library on Saturdays from April. It would save around £18,000 a year.

But Saturday is the library’s busiest day. Its own figures show 410 visits on an average Saturday, against 260 on a weekday. It’s the day working parents bring children to the story session, and the only day some people can use the computers.

If the council must save money, there are quieter days to close. Write to your councillor before the meeting on 5 November.
